What if the insurance company and I disagree regarding damages?

Many times when a dispute arises between an insurance company and a policy holder, the parties can mediate their difference. If they cannot reach an agreement via a non-binding mediation, some policies afford appraisal, which is a means to establish the amount of loss out of the court system. If that’s not available to a policy holder, the policy holder can seek legal help and file a suit against the insurance company in order to recover what they believe they are entitled to under the policy.
