What are the basic steps involved with handling a home claim?

After you’ve made the insurance company aware that you’ve had a claim at your home, the insurance company will begin an investigation. You as the policy-holder must cooperate with the insurance company during that investigation. That may require you to provide documents or allow them the opportunity to inspect the damage you are claiming. Thereafter, the insurance company will take a position and either pay your claim, deny your claim, or pay part of your claim. If you are unhappy with the position the insurance company has taken with regard to the settlement of your claim, you should seek professional help. Contact a public adjuster or an attorney and have them review your case.
