Should I keep making my mortgage payments after the fire?

Unfortunately, just because you had a fire, it doesn’t obviate your obligations underneath your mortgage. Now, you are going to have to keep paying your mortgage and make sure that those payments are current for a number of reasons. Now, the good news is, your insurance policy may provide for what we call A-L-E, additional living expenses. If you are displaced from your home and you have to seek temporary residence elsewhere, the insurance company should be able to provide payment for those temporary living expenses.
