How do I prove that I owned an item that was stolen?

There’s various ways to prove that you owned an item before it was stolen. Obviously, the easiest thing is receipts and other proofs of purchase. You can also prove it by photographs of the actual items before it was stolen from your property. You can prove it by testimony of other people and appraisals.
