What is the duty of cooperation?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

The duty of cooperation is a duty that every insured, or policy holder, has under their policy, and it obligates the policy holder to reasonably cooperate with their insurance company when the insurance company is investigating a claim. Even though you have this duty, if you have any questions about what the insurance company is asking you to do, or if you have any questions about the investigation, for example the insurance company may ask you for documents or information that you feel is not relevant to your claim, you need to seek the advice of a qualified attorney as to whether that falls within your duty to cooperate with the insurance company.
