What if the property damage was caused by a long term leak?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

If the property damage was sustained as the result of a long-term leak, the first thing that you want to do and the most important thing is to stop the problem from occurring. Your policy contains a provision that requires you to mitigate your damages once they become known to you. The reality is, most laypeople such as ourselves don’t have the ability to make the determination as to how long a leak has been ongoing, so the fact that you think that it’s been ongoing for a long time doesn’t, in fact, mean that it actually has. Let’s leave that up to the experts. If you think you do have a long-term leak, though, you want to contact a professional that can help you present your claim in the best light to the insurance company to ensure that they cover your claim for damages.
