Does my homeowners’ policy cover me if there is a sinkhole or is that a separate policy?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

Under Florida law, an insurance company that is providing coverage to a homeowner has to provide coverage for catastrophic ground collapse. To understand that, please speak with your agent, or with a public adjuster, or with an attorney about what that coverage means. With respect to sinkhole coverage, the insurance company has to offer sinkhole coverage in some capacity. Again, the specific coverage that is provided under a homeowner’s insurance policy for sinkholes is going to be determined by what’s in the policy. In order to understand what’s in your policy, you’ll need to speak with your agent, or with a public adjuster, or with an attorney.
